Jace's Adventure

Jace's back has been hurting since New Year's Day this year. He had an MRI done in Las Cruces in February. They said that it was arthritis and that physical therapy was his only option. He started pt. We went to Dr. Otero and he gave him him supplements and exercises to do. He had a kenalog shot and was living on Ibuprofen. When the second kenalog shot did not work. Dr. Spence told him to send his MRI to the Laser Spine Institute. He had them sent. They called. We planned on going. There was one in Scottsdale, Arizona. That is where we wanted to go because we could see Kristi and Ken but our insurance paid more if we went to Florida so here we are.

We left Monday, September 13 and drove to El Paso. We arrived at the airport right on time, an hour before the flight. When we got to the ticket counter we found out that our plane was an hour late so we would miss our connection in Houston. So she put us on a plane through Dallas. We changed planes there. We flew to Austin but we didn't have to change planes. We arrived in Tampa at 9:20 at night. Our hotel had a shuttle so it was easy to get to the hotel.

The next day we went to the Laser Spine Institute. We saw the anesthesiologist and two nurse practitioners. Jace had another MRI and xray taken. He had an EKG and blood taken. After all morning at the institute. I call it that because it is really not a hospital. We went back to the hotel and took a nap. Then we went to the mall. The hotel shuttle took us. We shopped a little and went to a movie. We ate seafood at a local restaurant We went back to the hotel and watched a movie.

The next day we went back to LSI and saw the doctors who read the MRI to us and told us what they were going to do. We could see the discs bulging. I don't know what the people in Las Cruces were thinking. It would be interesting to see the first MRI. This made Jace feel a lot better. There was really something there causing his pain.

Today, Thursday, September 16, I sit in the waiting room typing this post to my blog waiting for Jace. He is in surgery now. They will call me when he goes to the recovery room. He went in at 8:00 and the surgery takes about an hour and a half. So I wait.
